My dearest friend...

Not many people receive handwritten letters nowadays but don’t we all love them. So, what if you went to the mailbox to find a letter from Jesus? What would it say?

The seven letters in the book of Revelation were letters from Jesus to the churches of Asia Minor. Jesus used a format; greeting, praise, admonition (in all but two), warning, and hope. If he wrote to you, how do you think it would read? What would be your praise or your admonition, and how would he encourage you? What would he warn you of? In most of the letters to the churches, Jesus warned the people that they needed to repent.

“Repent and do the works you did at first...If you will not wake up I will come like a thief.”

Have you lost your first love? Is Christ a duty now or a joy? Do you feel like you are just walking through life doing the same old things in the same old way?

“The one who conquers will be clothed in thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.”

Take time this week to ask the Lord what he would write in his letter to you. Sometimes we fear that it will be nothing but a list of our sins, and yes, it may have some of that in it. But it will also be a word of love and hope, maybe even more so for anyone who honestly seeks him. I suspect at the end you’ll find you’ll find your spirit lifted and praising the Lord who loves you so much.
